The AIA’s Committee on the Environment (COTE) today announced the winners of its annual Top Ten Green Projects awards, which are held to commemorate Earth Day on April 22.

This year’s winners were built for clients both large and small, and they comprise commercial facilities, government buildings, educational centers, and a private residence. Nine of the buildings are in the U.S., and one is in South America.. The awards jury includes Randy Croxton, FAIA, Croxton Collaborative; Sim van der Ryn, Van der Ryn Architects; Horst Berger, City University of New York; and Guy Battle, Battle McCarthy. A ceremony to honor the winning projects will be held at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. on Monday, April 29.

The Top Ten awards were begun by COTE in conjunction with the Department of Energy in 1998 to recognize the work of designers who strive to minimize the environmental impacts of their projects.
