Jenna M. McKnight

Jenna M. McKnight is Architectural Record’s news editor. Jenna joined the staff in July 2007, after earning a master’s degree in arts journalism from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University. She formerly was a newspaper reporter and editor. An avid traveler, Jenna has backpacked in Alaska, worked in Brussels, and studied Aboriginal culture in Australia. She grew up in Arizona and remains addicted to mountains, sunshine, and delicious Mexican food.



Susannah Shepherd

Susannah Shepherd attended the New School University where she graduated from a joint BA/BFA program between Parson’s School of Design and Eugene Lang College. In 2000 she joined McGraw-Hill Construction where she began developing and expanding the ArchitecturalRecord.com Web site. Over the past few years her role expanded to several other online properties such as GreenSourceMag.com and MyHousemag.com. Currently Susannah will be in charge of design across all the McGraw-Hill Construction media web sites: ArchitecturalRecord.com, ENR.com, GreenSourceMag.com, Construction.com and the Regionals.


Laurie A. Meisel

Laurie A. Meisel has been a cyber junkie for the past 15 years, learning about the medium from the inside out. Prior to that, she designed 401(k) and health insurance plans, and toured the country with her seminars. A communication major from the University of Delaware, she began her career, working for the company that produced "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" and "Star Search."

An avid photographer, when she is not producing ArchRecord.com, she may be found photographing the WNBA, The New York Titans and most recently various Olympic athletes. Both her corporate and sports photography have been published in Design-Build, Engineering News-Record and a number of online publications.



Robert Ivy, FAIA

Robert Ivy, FAIA, is an architect, writer, and editor. Since becoming Editor in Chief of Architectural Record, the magazine has grown to become the world’s largest professional architectural publication, encompassing both print and the Web. Under his leadership, AR received publishing’s highest honor in 2003, the National Magazine Award for General Excellence. A frequent spokesperson for the profession, he travels extensively for the magazine and has broadened its coverage to include more international projects. In 2003, Ivy was named Vice President and Editorial Director of McGraw-Hill Construction Publications.

Managing editor Beth Broome came to Architectural Record after six years working in newspapers, most recently as deputy managing editor of The New York Observer. Originally from the Boston area, she is a graduate of Tufts University and currently lives in Brooklyn.


Charles Linn, FAIA

Charles Linn, FAIA, holds a bachelor of architecture from Kansas State University. After practicing architecture and earning his registration, he worked as a waiter; carpenter; art director in a small ad agency; display artist for a department store; a designer in an industrial design firm, and a freelance writer. In 1986 he started Architectural Lighting magazine for Aster Publishing in Eugene, Oregon, and was the magazine's editor until it was sold to Gralla Publications in 1989. In 1990 he was hired by Architectural Record to start its lighting supplement, Record Lighting, and was named senior editor in 1993.


Clifford Pearson

Senior editor Clifford Pearson joined Architectural Record in 1989 after working for publications such as Builder magazine, Metropolis, and Corporate Design & Realty. He is the author of the book Indonesia: Design and Culture (Monacelli, 1998) and the editor of Modern American Houses: Four Decades of Award-Winning Design in Architectural Record (Harry N. Abrams, 1996). He holds a master's degree in architectural history from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree from Cornell University.


Rita Catinella

Before joining RECORD as Products Editor in 1999, Rita F. Catinella was an editor at Contract Design magazine where she wrote news, product, profile, and feature design articles. Rita also worked for a brief stint as a reporter for the home furnishings weekly, HFN. Rita currently produces and writes product sections for RECORD and for special supplements of the magazine, including collaborations with sister-publication Engineering News Record. She also represents the magazine at numerous national and international tradeshows and product launches. Rita is a published poet with a B.A. in English/Communications from Hofstra University and a M.A. in Creative Writing from Queens College. Her first chapbook of poetry, Stuck in the Dream Wheel, was published in December 2005 by Finishing Line Press.

Jane Kolleeny

Jane Kolleeny is a former marketing director for architecture firms. Originally from Colorado, she began her editorial career at Shambhala Publications in the early eighties, then worked as managing editor of the Shambhala Sun until the late eighties. After moving to New York she switched to a career in architecture marketing, which she continued for about 12 years. She joined RECORD in May 2000.She also serves as Managing Editor of GreenSource: The Magazine of Sustainable Design, sister publication to RECORD.
